Toy Fair 2019 Highlights and Competition

What is Toy Fair 2019?

Every January in the UK, the toy industry descends upon Kensington Olympia. They talk toys, show toys, play toys and even be toys, all with not many children about. I’ve been attending for 6 years now and it’s always fun to find out what the predicted trends are and see the new developments in toy technology. The thing is, nobody can truly predict what kids will like and thats the beauty of it. You can’t tell a child what they are going to enjoy playing with this year. So I’m not going to tell you what you should buy for them . These Toy Fair 2019 Highlights are solely based on what I (Nigel the big kid) liked and wanted to take home.

Keep reading as there is a competition to win ALL of the toys featured in this post (worth over £475). And don’t forget to check out My Toy Fair Twitter Party on Friday 15th February 2019 where there is a chance to win these prizes and more.

Nigel loves films, toys, books, gadgets and more. Why not head over and check out some of his reviews.

Hot Wheels Maker Kitz – Bladez (RRP £6.99)

Hot Wheels Maker Kitz are the Hot Wheels™ cars YOU build. They come with pop out the pre-cut plastic panels a bit like flat pack furniture. Then you snap the parts together (no tools, glue or screws necessary) and away you go. Each car comes with not 1 but 2x turbo pull back motors that chalk up scale speeds of up to 300mph.

As well as building the car they all come with access to an online S.T.E.M activity sheet. For those not familiar with S.T.E.M it’s a curriculum that educates students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Make sure you check out my Hot Wheels Maker Kitz Review.

Pindaloo Skills Toy (RRP £9.99)

Pindaloo is basically a U shaped tube and a ball. The idea is to catch a ball in a tube which sends the ball back into the air. You then repeat the process and once you’ve got the hang, you can start introducing tricks and skills. Built with a Montessori in mind, Pindaloo is based on the theory of stimulating children to learn through play. This makes it a great sensory toy for children with ADHD, Autism, stress and anxiety disorders and special needs. Head to my Pindaloo review for video and verdict.

Off The Hook Style Studio and Doll (RRP £19.99 & £7.99)

Spin Master has launched a new line of fashion dolls and accessories called Off The Hook™. Each of the six mannequin dolls can be completely styled from head to toe. There are mix and match hairstyles, tops, bottoms, shoes and accessories with easy, hook-together fashions. Every Off The Hook™ doll comes wearing a seriously cool outfit from one of three must have fashion collections. Concert Collection, Summer Vacay Collection and Spring Dance Collection. Check out my Off The Hook review here.

Giant Fire Breathing Dragon Toothless and Viking and Dragon Playset  (RRP £34.99 & 14.99)

Dreamworks Giant Fire Breathing Toothless is the latest How to Train Your Dragon toy from Spin Master. First and foremost it measures over 20 inches long with 22-inch, pull-open wings and it’s got a few exciting battle features. These include lights, a glow in the dark projectile, and a special saddle to hold your viking riders. One of the coolest things though is it’s smoke like effect, created using water vapour. Check out my Fire Breathing Toothless review.

Moonlite Storybook Projector Gift Pack (RRP £19.99)

Your child’s favourite tales come alive with the Moonlite Storybook Projector.  This small device clips onto your smartphone (not included) and uses it’s flashlight to project vibrant storybook images onto any surface! While projecting the storybook images, the Moonlite app displays story text and plays charming sound effects, creating an immersive and magical story time experience for you and your child. Head over and see what I thought of it in my Moonlite Storybook Projector review.

Lollipets Twin Pack (RRP £14.99)

Lollipets are cute collectible pets that really move! Hold their favourite treat (included) in front of them and their floppy ears and tails will wiggle as they scamper towards it! You can even use their sugary snack to guide them. Hold their treat above to make them hop; behind to make them sprint; or to the side to make them dodge.

There are 20 to collect and depending on the type of pack you purchase you may even unbox a rare Lollipets. You can even put your new pals and their unique treats in your pocket and take them with you, wherever you go! Head over to my Lollipets Review for more.

Turnado Ride-on Go-Kart (RRP £339.99)

The Turnado Ride-on Go-Kart combines the stability and control of traditional scooter handlebars with an innovative wheel configuration. The front wheels are large and air filled whereas the back ones are like coasters. This enables racers to experience the absolute thrill of seemingly traction-less movement. What’s more, the Turnado has a controlled speed system that allows the driver to easily speed up and slow down for the best possible maneuvering for spins, turns, and other cool stunts. Make sure you check out my Turnado Review, it scored very well.

Pet Squeaks Hattie the Hamster and Nibble the Bunny (RRP £14.99 & £14.99)

PetSqueaks™ are cute little pocket-sized robotic pets fromVTech®. Each one has 3 sensors that trigger fun and interactive responses when played with. Once you turn them on they move and scurry around on flat surfaces just like a real pet! PetSqueaks™ come with 3 accessories; headwear, jacket and a food item. Put the food item in your pets hands to see their cheeks light up in delight as they eat!

Safe for kids aged 3 and up. They will have hours of fun playing with their new pet friends who are small enough to accompany you on a day out.

Hot Wheels Tile Track Playset (RRP £19.99)

Hot Wheels Tile Track Playset is a very basic vehicle and track set for toddlers. Build the track using the 8 colourful jumbo tile pieces and watch your vehicle race round and around. With over 50 different track configurations there is no chance of things getting stagnant. Plus the motorised vehicle will also run on any flat surface so if it goes off track the fun doesn’t stop.

Finally this is a S.T.E.M toy developed with child development, problem solving and coordination in mind. For those not familiar with S.T.E.M it’s a curriculum that educates students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
