Paddington 2 Film Review – Small Bear. Big Adventure
Everyone’s favourite Peruvian bear is back and that means its time for my Paddington 2 film review! After the worldwide success of the first big screen outing, Paddington is back for another adventure. And it’s hardly surprising after the first film was named the most successful non-US studio family film of all time. Hugh Grant and Brendan Gleeson have joined the all-star returning cast of Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent and Peter Capaldi. Add to that a generous handful of some of Britain’s acting favourites, and there’s bound to be someone you love in this movie.
Where does the story begin?
The story begins with the beloved Paddington happily settled with the Brown Family in Windsor Gardens. Fully integrated with family life he has become a much loved part of the community. Helping the locals, and spreading good cheer and marmalade wherever he goes. This of course is much to the annoyance of Mr Curry.
Aunt Lucy, the little bear’s mother figure is approaching her 100th birthday and Paddington wants to get her the perfect present. With the help of his friend Mr Gruber (the antique shop owner) he finds a beautiful pop-up book. But when this book is stolen, Paddington becomes embroiled in an adventure to find the thief and Aunt Lucy’s perfect gift.
Whats the Verdict?
Paddington 2 is a good family movie that has a little bit for everybody. It’s an easy watch which had me chuckling along throughout. Kids both young and old will enjoy the humour, which is present throughout the film. I thought that I would be disappointed by the special effects, but was pleasantly surprised at how easily I was sucked into believing there was a talking bear on the screen. We are not talking Jungle Book special effects here but they do the job more than comfortably.
Grant And Gleeson slotted into the established cast well and both put in stand out performances. Paddington 2 is in UK cinemas from November 10 2017.
